Tom Hinz, Coordinator of the
Montana Wetlands Legacy Project, said, “Wetlands are among Montana’s
greatest treasures. Our wetlands,
riparian areas, and associated uplands are essential to maintaining
water quality and supply. Our vision is for Montana’s wetlands to be
healthy, protected, and fully functioning.”
Hinz added, “As a first step, we commit to protect 250,000 acres
of ecologically important wetlands, riparian areas, and associated uplands
by the year 2005.”
Natural
resource professionals as well as the public are invited to attend. This seminar is free of charge. For more information, call (406) 444-5357. Interested individuals are also encouraged
to visit the Wetlands Legacy website at:

The Montana Natural Resource Information System (NRIS) was established in 1985 by the Legislature. NRIS, a division of the State Library, acts as a clearinghouse for natural resource information.
