(HELENA)---The Montana
Natural Resource Information System (NRIS) announces that the next meeting of
its advisory council will be held on Wednesday, January 23, from 1:00 pm to
4:00 pm in the conference room at the Montana State Library. The Library is located at 1515 East Sixth
Avenue in Helena.
Agenda items will include
funding and budget status, staffing status and plans, an update of the NRIS
strategic plan, a review of major projects currently underway, and a discussion
of significant issues affecting NRIS.
The
NRIS Advisory Council makes recommendations to NRIS regarding data sources,
data acquisition, data dissemination methods, and other issues of concern to
NRIS. Members of the committee include
representatives of Montana’s natural resource agencies, the Environmental
Quality Council, the University System, the Montana State Library, and the
Department of Administration. Persons
representing local government and private industry are also invited to
participate, and the public is welcome to attend.
The Montana Natural Resource Information System
(NRIS) was established in 1985 by the Legislature. NRIS, a division of the State Library, acts as a clearinghouse
for natural resource information. For
