The
seminar will include overviews of completed projects as well as current
activities, like grassland bird investigations in Valley County. A discussion on the collaborative
development of the Animal Species of Concern List with Montana Fish, Wildlife
and Parks is also planned. The
afternoon will conclude with a look into the future of the Zoology Program.
Since
1985, NHP’s Zoology Program’s staff members have gathered information from a
variety of sources on a wide range of Montana animal species. Over the years, they have recorded and made
that research available through an objective, comprehensive data clearinghouse
system.
The Montana Natural Heritage
Program is part of the Montana Natural Resource Information System (NRIS),
which was established sixteen years ago by the Legislature. NRIS, a division of the State Library, acts
as a clearinghouse for natural resource information.
This
seminar is free of charge. For more
information, call (406) 444-5357 or (406) 444-3655. Interested individuals are also encouraged to visit the Montana
Natural Heritage Program’s website at http://nhp.nris.state.mt.us.
