Upper Clark Fork River Basin Wildlife GIS Data -- Updated in 2009

Dan Hook, a retired Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks wildlife biologist, compiled and converted historical aerial sighting wildlife data in the Upper Clark Fork River Basin to GIS format for the State.  The data is housed at the Montana State Library on the Natural Resource Information Systems (NRIS) website.  The data coverage includes lands that:

Prospective applicants for NRDP grant funds considering projects in these drainages are encouraged to take advantage of these available maps and population data compiled from aerial surveys conducted by biologists from Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks.  This data can assist in describing current conditions and predicting benefits to wildlife resources.  Available data includes information on elk, mule deer, antelope, bighorn sheep, mountain goat and moose sightings and distribution.  The elk data is the most extensive, with aerial surveys data compiled from 1988 to 2007.
